4 Helpful Tips for Storing Stuff As A Homeowner

Use Vertical Space

One of the best ways to make the most of the storage that you have is to look up. When possible, create vertical storage systems. This can be as simple as stackings bins and boxes or as elaborate as an entire shelving system. Just make sure that however you choose to stack and store, things are secured safely. It is also a good idea to store your heavier items on the bottom so that nothing is damaged.

Find Things That Do Double Duty

If you have a lot of appliances to store, consider which ones can be used for multiple purposes and prioritize those. Chances are you may be able to get rid of a few and free up more space. Tools and sporting equipment can also be stored away or rotated seasonally. You may even be able to rent certain tools rather than buy and store them.

Get Outside Storage

If you have a lot of outdoor gear, it may be helpful to store it where you will use it. If you have space, consider adding a shed, additional garage space, or even just a small weatherproof box on your back porch. All of these things can make storing outdoor gear easier and more convenient.

Pare Down

At the end of the day, you can evaluate how much you really need the things that you are storing. Are there any that you don’t use anymore? Anything that would be cheaper or easier to rent when needed rather than store? Paring down can help you use and enjoy your home’s space in a whole new way!
